Ok, take this scenario… You look outside and you notice that there is smoke coming out of the house two doors down. What do you do? Most people would more that likely call 911 to have the fire department come check it out. That is the responsible thing to do, right? Yes. It is. Now, what do we NOT do in that instance? We don’t sit back and say, “Well, I didn’t cause that fire, why should I call on my tax dollars for the fire fighters to come put it out?! Its not my fault they can’t keep their house from burning.” Apply that scenario to Wall Street… The economy is on fire. And its not quite 5-alarm, yet… but its getting there. LET THEM PUT THE FIRE OUT!!!
To those that question the plan to rescue the financial system, I understand you… and on some level, I agree, but now is not the time to talk about prevention and blame. Make no mistake about it, we NEED to find out all we can about the causes, and we will, but right now, for this very moment, the inferno that was the Investment Banking Industry is spreading. It is spreading to every corner of our already weakened economy. I may be a tad-bit alarmist, I admit, but there is no other choice for our Government… and for us. Our government’s primary responsibility is to protect us. If they do nothing, then our way of life will change. Drastically.
Of course, we are nowhere near that point… but with each passing day of inaction, we grow exponentially closer. This problems are trickling down. Fast.
To the Congress: We don’t have the time to iron out all of the details. That is just the reality. Pass the bill with three major additions:
–Include the “people” and offer mortgage relief so they do not lose their houses (if we are going to bail out bad businesses, we should bail out our citizens)
–Require the bill to be transparent so we can trace every dollar spend by the Fed
–Mandate a full follow-up investigation in order to write more comprehensive regulation to prevent something like this from ever happening again.
I am not so naive as to think that this is as simple as I may make it sound, and I acknowledge that I do not have ALL of the facts, but I have enough, and I understand one thing, the longer it takes to get something done, the worse it will get, and I am not just talking about the businesses… It will get bad for you and for me.
Every day we talk and not act, watch the market. It will drop 3 digits.

10 Reasons I cannot support McCain | Palin …
Posted by bretthperkins on September 10, 2008
10 – They do not represent my ideals on where I believe our country should go in terms of fiscal responsibility.
9 – They do not embody the spirit and experience necessary to make me believe that they can change the United States’ standing in world opinion and foreign relations.
8 – They have never truly believed in bi-partisanship. If they did, then there would be more talk about what concerns the average voter and less talk about why their opponents are not “qualified” to lead this country.
7 – John McCain, through his own admission, supports President Bush in over 90% of his policy and ideals. Nothing more can be said.
6 – John McCain owns seven (7) houses, and states that the economy is “fundamentally sound.” Yeah, I guess when you have seven houses, you can say that. He is clearly not in touch with the REAL problems of this economy.
5 – Palin is a proven religious fundamentalist. Isn’t that what we say our enemy is? Hmm… Interesting.
4 – Palin is 100% against abortion and stem cell research. McCain chose her… enough said.
3 – Palin makes John Kerry (the notorious pres. candidate of 2004 known for flip flopping) look consistent. She is FOR or AGAINST anything… just to get voted. The bridge to nowhere, energy pipelines in Alaska, earmarks, etc… She voted FOR them to gain popularity in her state, but now, she says that she is against them because she wants the national vote. Curious.
2 – The Republicans cannot make up their mind on what is off limits or fair game…. Wait… I take that back. Anything that will HURT the GOP is off limits, but the SAME issue with regard to the Democrats is fair game. Come on! I have never see such hypocrisy. For example, when there was a religious issue with Obama, the Red was all over it, now that Palin is in question, its off limits. When Clinton was in a personal scandal, the Red went after him… now that there is questionable behavior in the Palin family, those questions are off limits. Its not okay for the Dems to choose such an “inexperienced” leader like Obama… then they choose Palin. Wow.
1 – McCain and Palin can’t possibly MEAN it when they talk about change. They only began talking about it when they realized that Obama was on to something. How can the candidate from the party that is in the White House NOW really talk about change? Come on! They are liars and they will SAY anything to get elected. That is just it, though. They SAY it, but do they even BELIEVE it?! NO!
McCain and Palin are just a bad decision. There is nothing good that can come from them taking office. By no means are the Democrats innocent of doing poorly. In all honesty, they are ALL doing a questionable job. But I do know this… More of the SAME is not acceptable, and perhaps with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President, progress can again continue. This country has TOO much at stake to remain on its current course, and I believe that history will never forgive us if we put another Republican like George W. Bush in office.
If you believe America is better than the last 8 years, then the choice here is clear… Obama is your candidate and Together, with him and Biden, we will again make America what it truly is:
America is a beacon of hope and integrity, in which values and choice are encouraged. In my America tolerance and understanding outweigh ignorance and judgement. In my America, the world regards us as responsible and respected because we will ACT humbly and within reason. I want MY America back.
I want Barack Obama to lead us back to where we truly belong, for his is the REAL Change that we can BELIEVE in!!!
